High School Football is born in the Comox Valley

In late 2002, the Comox Valley Raiders Youth Football Club decided to investigate the possibility of joining the ever-growing sport of high school football. After a storied stint in community football (4 provincial championships, and several Island titles), the Raiders' Board of Directors looked to the future of football in the Comox Valley - entry into the BC High School Football Association. After several months of negotiations with School District 71, an agreement was reached and the Vanier Towhees Football Program was born. The Towhees would take to the field in the fall of 2003 and finish with a respectable 4-6 record - narrowly missing the playoffs.

2004 saw the formation of the Vanier Junior Varsity Program and the formation of the Mark Isfeld Secondary football program. The Raiders are proud to offer the opportunity for young men to play football for their school, at no cost to the school district.
